Philly Power.

E n o r m o u s. One giant room, jammed full of rusted larger than life machinery after the next. It was recently used as the backdrop for the Transformers movie. Not so recently it was turned into a faux mental hospital in the much better film the Twelve Monkeys.
After parking we were first greeted be guard shacks and signage warning us of live razor wire. Finally making it inside the plant, after a wrong turn into a fully operating maintenance building; lights and air conditioner running, we tried our best to not get lost in this monster.

Left behind movie stuff.

  1. The bottom photo totally takes on the form of some sort of animated torture-inducing creature. Love it. This place was a blast and we could have been there for hours longer, at least.

  2. it also kind of reminds me of a gas mask...

great set, I always love shots of this amazing building.

  3. Your photos are amazing. And of course the places too. How do you get into these buildings? Abandoned buildings like that are usually closed.

  4. ainikki- thanks a ton.
yeah, this was closed for years. it briefly became accessible again. now the wait begins, it's not protected historically so the chances of demo are always present also.
